Two steps forward, one step back!

This is my (Kevin) first week back to work since the furlough and it is good to be back but oh boy is there a lot of little stuff to day! Lots of little details and stuff to be sorted out after the 8 weeks we were away. Still not too much stuff.

Also we have just received and new member of Staff. Melissa is 20 and a French speaking Belgian. Actually she speaks little English so my French has gone into overdrive this week which is nice. After making it through the staff meeting in French, and evening with Melissa and a meeting today I was feeling quite pleased with myself.

Anyway at coffee break (in French) I was reminded by Liam that when I spoke at a church (in French) recently I started off by saying “Vous ĂȘtes mes Heros!” (You are my Heros!). Well that’s what I thought I had said, but as I didn’t make a pause between the mes and Heros it sounded like I was saying “Vous ĂȘtes mes Zeros!”

Hmmmph I hadn’t really noticed until Liam pointed it out!

On Holiday we had time for some essential painting of Ellie's furniture. (Pink! Whet else?)Dear Everyone,

As promised our first of many quick monthly updates. Firstly it was so wonderful to catch up with so many of you over the summer and we certainly feel refreshed after our furlough.

We returned to Brussels very happy to be home despite the rain and last week we all thoroughly enjoyed being a part of Fiesta, a holiday club ran between a number of churches. Kev enjoyed doing puppets and songs for the 5-11 year olds and Nicki loved being with the under fives doing songs. Sam and Ellie of course enjoyed taking part. It was particularly good to have Nicki’s non-Christian friend, Catie, coming along everyday to help with the young ones…of course she got to hear the simple talks and songs each day and intends to keep up her new friendships which is wonderful. (Have a look here: http://www.vbsbrussels.be/)

Spending our break climbing up Gum trees! (well Oak) We officially started back to YWAM after our break today and Kev returned to the office with fresh enthusiasm to face a summer’s worth of e-mails! September will be busy as ministries start up again. We would particularly ask for prayer for our team retreat in the Ardennes. Before Furlough we had a bit of a troubled time as a team so this would be good for team building. We have a guest speaker from YWAM Wales for the weekend so please pray that we hear God’s encouragement and guidance. Pray also for our YWAM Brussels open day on 23rd September when we will be opening up our ministries and offices. The bookshop and Bar will also be open until late with special artists. Pray people from the city will have a greater understanding of what we do and how we can be in a greater partnership to see God touch this city and beyond.

Key dates follow. Thanks for all your prayers,

Nicki, Kevin, Sam and Ellie.

Key dates for September:

8th -10th Sept: Base retreat in the Ardennes
14th Sept: Mothers and Babies groups start again
23rd Sept: YWAM Brussels open day

Something we did on a wet summer sunday in Brussels…

Yesterday we whilst watching Walace and Gromit we were inspired to create our own family oeuvre so we arose at the crack of dawn (well 11am) and embarked on our epic. The results are here: “Polly Pocket and the dinosaur attack“.

Nicki and I were thrilled with how well the kids got into it all and really concentrated all the way through. Stop- frame animation is really hard!!! I hope you all enjoy it. I will try to post instructions so you can make your own at home too!
